We have been intensively evaluating the various investment opportunities in the city of Chongqing for the past three years. Our frequent visits and meetings in the past years have assisted us in establishing valuable contacts with various local government departments and business corporations in the city. We have also established our credibility as a company with a long term perspective and investment horizon.

 

Chongqing, covering a land area of 82,400 km², is a large metropolis with a population of 31,300,000. It is the largest city in China in terms of jurisdiction, population and administrative units. Chongqing is located in the centre of the economic ring on the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and is the connection point between East and West China. It is also the main region identified for economic development and investment in China’s ‘Go West’ strategy. The scale of the "Go West" policy - with 1.6 trillion yuan spent since 1999, mainly on roads, bridges, dams and pipelines is undeniably amazing, and a vast portion of this money is going to Chongqing.

 

Its population is already bigger than that of Australia or the Netherlands, with half a million more arriving every year in search of a better life. Chongqing is expected to play a pivotal role in the economic development and expansion of the South-west region of the PRC.

 

Murchison Holdings Ltd has devoted resources to the building of its links with international companies and PRC entities. The recent agreement to develop several areas of Chongqing represents a major milestone in MCH's well-defined transformation programme. A successful implementation of this project shall mean not only a sustainable income stream for MCH, but will also enhance the asset base of MCH in future years.

 

With the completion of the Three Gorges project, its reservoir will bring ocean going ships to the quays of Chongqing. Chongqing and its population of 31 million are busy reinventing themselves, the growing spending power of the Chinese people is allowing the people to explore commerce.

 

Massive public works are currently under way in the city, including overhead and surface commuter rail lines connecting the many districts of the city. Foreign investment in the city is growing at a fast pace, and the area is developing to reflect this.

 

Murchsion is currently engaged in three development projects within Chongqing consisting of industry, residential areas and commercial developments.
