The hardware supporting the VoIP module is either in the form of the integrated remote control discussed in the previous section or by using DiTV's digital cordless telephone.
The VoIP telephone connects to other VoIP phones through the Ethernet, but can also connect to traditional PSTN telephone networks if you want it to through the RJ11 gateway which is part of the backend system and not seen by users. However what is seen by the user is the cordless digital telephone supplied by DiTV, the phone is supplied with a base unit from which to charge the phone. The phone connects wirelessly to the DiTV set-top box in order to allow the VoIP to be channeled through it to the Ethernet and the PSTN network.
