Summary of the Built-in card reader
Smart Cards have a small gold chip about ½ inch in diameter on the front. When inserted into a reader, the chip makes contact with electrical connectors that can read information from the chip and write information back. They have many applications from identification to storing bank information for payment.
The smart card reader embedded in our DiTV solution will be used both to pay for content and to gain access to content, to establish what modules the user has selected in their service program.
Smart cards are suitable for these tasks because they are engineered to be tamper resistant. The embedded chip of a smart card usually implements some cryptographic algorithm, designed to protect your information from harmful sources. Our DiTV then further encrypts this data when sending it to the receiver of payment, allowing you to use our card reader to make payments, secure in the knowledge that your data is safe.
You can also use our smart card reader to enable payments for the VoIP module, allowing the user to easily and simply buy more credit to phone people with. We have a special licence to operate a payment gateway through to the Bank of China, this is a feature not found amongst many service providers and will enable customers to use the Bank of China.
