VoIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol, and is seen as the future of cheap and effective communications. VoIP takes speech and converts it into digital data to be sent over the internet to the target user, whose VoIP system then converts it back into sound, the process is virtually instantaneous. It is possible to call conventional telephone numbers, known as the PSTN, using your VoIP phone, at significantly lower costs than standard PSTN to PSTN calls. With the VoIP system provided by Murchison's partner, Quest Telecom Limited (QTL), it is even possible for someone without a VoIP phone to call your's for cheaper than a conventional phone line. These cheap tariffs and compatibility between telephone devices also applies to calling cellular mobile phones.
QTL was established in 2006 and is pioneered by Toptrend and Murchison Holdings Limited. It was founded to venture into the VoIP market and provide a new level of integration between PC, VoIP and Toptrend's DiTV. The project was initiated after reviewing phone tariffs throughout the world and realising that there was a much easier and cheaper solution to the growing need for high levels of communication. The birth and rise of broadband made vocal communications through the internet possible at a rate that was faster, clearer and cheaper than the conventional methods of dialing.
The strong growth seen in Broadband penetration means that it is now feasible to circumvent the dominant hold which major networks have on traditional telecommunications. With our fully-integrated platform encompassing most of the latest technologies in communications, we have now established a new, low cost carrier that is ready to roll out to the market.
The Unique Quality of QTL’s VoIP System: The unique feature of our System lies in the provision of a fully integrated platform, offering not only the user equipment but also a backend support system that includes administration and billing. Most other systems offer in part the front-end service, but without an in-house support system, therefore, their market coverage and service levels are limited. For example, Skype provides peer to peer VoIP, however its service level is limited by a lack of physical mobility in that most users have to be in front of a computer to use their VoIP.
As our VoIP telecom system is internet-based, its flexibility in consumer choice of our front-end equipment (Lan Phone, USB Phone, and mobile WiFi Phone) and our low-cost based structure will ensure strong competitive advantage in the marketplace.
